From a later historical ‘ship in the sky’ story at Peibio in 1743, to a 2016 report of a black sphere followed by Hawk jets, Anglesey’s record is older than most.
The Isle of Anglesey has 18 geographically validated reports. Its record reaches back to an 18th-century sky story and runs through 1970s landing claims to modern reports near RAF Valley.
A later historical account places an unusual “ship in the sky” story at Peibio in 1743. No contemporary source has been recovered: the story survives as a later retelling, and its modern reading as a UFO is a reinterpretation, not the language of 1743.
Around Aberffraw, Bodorgan and Llanerchymedd in 1977–78, several reports described landed craft — including a Llanerchymedd account of a landed silver craft with tall figures. The word “humanoid” is later terminology, not recovered witness wording.
In July 2016, a black sphere was reported to have been followed by three Hawk jets off the west coast. The Hawk-jet detail is what the reporting source describes; no independent RAF or Ministry of Defence documentation has been recovered. RAF Valley’s presence on Anglesey is geographic context only, not evidence of involvement.
